Brian

This past Friday a good friend of mine was killed while serving in Afghanistan. Major Brian Mescall was only 30 days from returning home when an IED struck his vehicle. The blast killed him and two others, and left a 4th Soldier in critical condition.

Brian is survived by his parents, his fiancee, Kirsten, and his 5-yr old son, Nathan. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of these Soldier's families.

I just read the blog and burst into tears. Apparently, that is never far away from me...as far as this war is concerned.

I am so sorry Allen...I can't imagine how something like that affects another soldier...but I know it must be extremely difficult.

I pray God's Peace for the family left without him.

From the photo he looks like a fun loving guy and good friend to Allen. I am so sad for your loss of such a dear friend, and for his surviving family.

Allen,
Thank you for posting this adorable picture of Brian. He is my cousin Jack & Peggy's son and I have not seen him in several years, since our last family reunion. This picture shows what a happy guy he was and everyone is right, we was a super nice human being and we should all strive to live our lives that way.
Thank You! Cecilia Kirkman

I am very saddened about your loss of a friend and a fellow soldier. Obviously he served his country and soldiers with honor. He is one of America's best who will be sorely missed and never replaced or forgotten. May his family be comforted that his ultimate selfless sacrifice was made while in the serivce of securing freedom and defending against the cruelty of tyrants. HOOAH Brian!!!
