Rhein Falls and the Black Forest

All of us near the falls

As we left Meersburg, we drove to Rhein Falls in Switzerland. We were able to take a boat across the river to a few better viewing areas right next to the falls. Ashlyn was a bit scared of being so high and right next to the falls. I was, too.

After lunch with a view of the falls, we headed back into Germany to the Black Forest. And, Jamie, this is what you shop for in the black forest:
We went to Triberg, which claims to be the where cuckoo clocks originated.
After shopping and dinner, we drove home. It was a VERY long day, especially for a certain 6 month old, who SCREAMED in the car while Allen and Vicki were trying to find a place to spend the night, before he finally falling asleep. We continued home and all slept late the next day.

I'm uploading more photos to Flickr as well.

Your son has such a great smile, I can't imagine him screaming!

Did you buy any clocks?

Also, what kind of carrier is that for Christopher? I am trying to determine the best one to get! I was not impressed with baby bjorn last time!

Katie,
That photo was of our clock. A picture of the whole thing is on flickr.

The carrier is an Ergo Carrier. If you still have the baby bjorn I would keep it for a little baby. There is an attachment for the ergo for infants, but it looks awkward to me. I do like the Ergo. It is more comfortable, especially with a larger baby, than the BB. I think probably more comfortable fot the child, too, since their legs are around your waist, rather than dangling. It also holds a child up to 40 lbs. I can carry Ashlyn in it, too, though only for short distances. I think it's only downfall is the child can't face out. Christopher turns way around trying to look.

I also have a hotsling that I would be happy to mail to you, if you want to try it out. I loved seeing people with their tiny babies in slings, but Christopher was just too big too fast to use it. I could use it now in different positions, but I just don't like it as well as the Ergo.

ANGIE!! Those pictures are beautiful! Looks like the kids had nearly as much fun as the adults!

Allen's right...I've never seen a cuckoo clock like that....it's gorgeous and very impressive!! Can't wait to see it in person...

Kiss the kids and say "Granny"...

I love seeing the pics and looks like you had a great time. Sometimes watching the blogs makes me sad because I wish we could see eachother more often. But then if there were no blogs we would not even have the pics...so that is better than nothing. Keep the pics comin'!

Really cool trip. There are so many groovy things to see around you.

How in the world do you get Ashlyn to sleep in public? We have a hard time getting the Monkey Twins to sleep in the car after a long day out let alone konking out in public!

Even after umpteen moves and a couple of kids, you look beautiful AND young. I love seeing your photos.
