Photo Books

I would like to start putting all of my photos into printed photo books rather than albums. They take up less space. Photos don't fall out of them. Plus, they just look really professional.

I've used a couple of different online services in the past, and I liked both of them fine. The pictures were slightly grainy, but I was happy with the books overall. There are so many other ones out there, though. I've read a few reviews online, but some of them did not include very many companies. So, if you've made a photo book, and you liked the result or didn't, let me know which service you used. Some of them that I've been reading about include:winkflash, kodak gallery, shutterfly, snapfish, my publisher, picaboo and blurb. I know that there are many others, but I couldn't possibly try them all, especially when they all have their own software that you must download to use.

So, since most of these companies also print photos, do you do any online photo printing? Standard photo sizes in Europe are different, so I will probably print everything online. I realize that some of the same services that make good photo books might not have good prints and vice versa. So, who do you recommend?

I made one through Kodak Gallery and really liked it. I haven't tried any others. Sorry I can't help. But, the photo books are great ideas that I've been mulling over doing more of myself. Do you know anyone who does online srapbooking? I've been thinking of doing that too since I don't have one single artistic bone in me. I've seen, www.howfasttheygrow.com and liked that. But is $7/page reasonable?

Angie...I've used Kodak Gallery and my photos were a bit grainy. Which ones that you used were the best quality?

I'm so glad you are asking this. I have a bunch of regular albums and stacks of photos piling up when I started seeing how much space albums are going to take up with all the pictures I have been taking. I, too, have been wondering what the best photo storage ideas are. I was thinking of storing all the photo in tabbed (by date) photo boxes and picking out the best for albums. But I like your photo book idea. I'll be watching your comments!

I did a photo book through Shutterfly that was AWESOME. Totally awesome. I also love their calendar maker feature.

I think Winkflash is the cheapest for ordering prints. They often have 6 cent sales!

I am currently making one through Picaboo but haven't had it printed yet, so I don't know how great it will be. I do love, however, how many different layout options and backgrounds there are to pick from. I decided to use it for that reason and for the fact that they do full bleeds. I'll let you how it turns out.

So now I am making one through shutterfly since Katie loved hers so much and at first I was turned off by the lack of backgrounds but now I am loving it because it is so much easier. I don't have to make many decisions and it is going so much faster than my last one. We'll see, though, how they both turn out.

I just made one through Shutterfly. It is ordered so I will let you know how the result it. My neighbor did one and I really liked it. They are pricey....but worth it. I am now going to make one for each boy/pregnancy and for each year.
