Daddy-Daughter Day, Christmas Markets, and a Quilt

Yesterday, we were all planning a trip to Kreuzberg. Kreuzberg is most famous for its beer, which is brewed by monks. At the last moment, I decided that I did not want to spend the day at a brewery (and driving to it.) So, it become a daddy-daughter day. I don't have much to say about the trip, since I didn't go, but I'm still sharing pictures.

Allen, with Damon and Brian

In the past few weeks, we have been to a few Christmas markets, from the local one in Parsberg, with about 10 booths, to the huge, crowded one in Nurnberg. We had a good time at all of them and will definitely be going back to Nurnberg and Rothenberg for more to see.

Ashlyn's favorite part of the markets, that and the cookies

I finished the top of Ashlyn's quilt at the first of September. At the time, I thought that I was going to quilt it myself. Then, we decided to move and I felt suddenly overwhelmed with all that I need to do. So, I sent the quilt to Laura, who had someone else do the quilting. It is phenomenal! I could never have done that good of a job. I couldn't quite get a good close-up of the quilting, though. Each section is quilted slightly differently. The flowers in the center have butterflies on them, just in the quilting. I am really pleased with how it turned out.

I LOVED the Christmas markets in Germany. We have a big collection of Gluhwine mugs. We have to purchase gluhwine at the PX now and it is $7. My favorite Christmas market was Nurenburg. We lived in Wuerzburg for 5 years. Now that base is being shut down. We also enjoyed our trip to that same brewery.

Small world......as I was looking at the blog, Kevin came in and said "Hey, scroll back up. I know that guy!". Turns out Kevin went to FSU with Damin. Funny! Thought I would blog you about it. Let Allen know.

Love ya,

Trace

Great pics! I'm proud of Allen- having a Father/Daughter day! Good for him! And, good for you, too! Guess you will be a year older when the baby arrives as well...my prediction: Boy- weighing in at 8lbs.10oz./ 20" (this was also Hayes stats). Just over a week to go...can't wait to hear the big news!
