News

Allen was on the NBC nightly news tonight! If you missed it, the video clip is online, but I don't know how long they keep this stuff on their site. He doesn't talk or anything, but you can see him.

In other news, I'm sure many of you read/heard that Rumsfeld was in Alaska this past weekend. Leaving his talk, I felt kind of ok about it. But, the more I thought about it, the worse I felt. He was asked if steps were being taken to find someone else to take the brigade's place in Iraq after the 120 days. Of course, I didn't expect him to say that we would definitely have them home in 120 days. (He didn't even know when the 120 days was over. He asked when it was over, and, in unison, we all answered December 13th.) The more I think about it, though, he could have made it sound a little less likely that they would be extended again. He said something about doing everything he could to make sure that our guys weren't extended again. Not enough. I thought maybe it was just me, being my worrying self. Tonight I was talking to other wives, who all were feeling worse about the extension since seeing Rumsfeld. I didn't really expect him to be a cheerleader or anything, but to make us all feel worse? He sucks.

The whole thing totally sucks on so many different levels! I am so proud of you and the other families for holding it together! Every day that gets colder means they will be home sooner. Yea for winter!

I am honored to know you and so proud of how you are holding up. Keep talking. I am also sorry that you didn't get what you wanted, deserved and needed from Rumsfeld. I could say a few things about my feeling toward him, but I will refrain. Allen and the rest of the troops should be home. December can't get here fast enough!!

It does suck and I don't think he showed the spouses the respect they deserved when he was there. Thanks for staying strong for Allen...you're always in our prayers.

I couldn't get the video clip to work! Cool that you saw him, though!

Screw Rumsfeld. You would think he would at least know when the 120 days is up. Come on! Be prepared mister and know your facts. I'm just sorry he made things seem worse to you. That is not what you needed at all. Hang in there, girl. I can't even imagine the emotinal roller coaster but by looking at Ashlyn, you would never know it. You have done a fantastic job with her.
