A Big Day!

I thought this was going to be our big event for the day!

This morning Ashlyn was playing with her little push/ride toy. Not pushing or riding, but playing with the buttons. Poppy pulled it out and sat her on it. She thought that was pretty fun, though she was still just messing with the little extras. Then, he stood her up behind. Somehow it just clicked, and she took off! She would push and push, and then run into the wall. We would change directions for her. Push and push, into another wall, or piece of furniture or whatever. At first, she would get mad when you moved the toy. We figured out that if we kept her holding on to it, then we could turn it and keep her from screaming, too. We tried taking it outside for her to push, but she was too interested in the grass, flowers, pieces of cotton, dirt, whatever to play with the push toy. She actually has two push/ride toys, and, at one point, was trying to push both of them at the same time. It was so fun. This evening, Grandma pushed Ashlyn around the house while she was sitting on one of them.
Into the wall!
Push and push

Into the chair!

Ashlyn has been thinking about climbing a stair or two really for a month or more. She hasn't ventured past just a step or two, though, until tonight. Tonight, by golly, she wanted her momma, and I was upstairs. I heard her crying and started towards the stairs to see her clear the landing and head up the main part of the stairs. She was halfway up the stairs, and mad. She had no idea that she had accomplished anything, since her goal wasn't the stairs so much as getting to me. Since we were more concerned about her safety then taking pictures, we had her climb up to the landing later for picture taking.

She was crying as she was crawling up this little bit. She did not care about pictures!

Ok, earlier, Ashlyn made it all the way to the top of the stairs. She has definitely learned to go upstairs, now she just needs to figure out how to go downstairs.
