First Day of Schoooool!

I don't believe there has ever been a child more excited about the first day of Kindergarten than Ashlyn. (I still remember my first day of Kindergarten, waking up early, long before I needed to get to school. I've been told that I even wore my mom's knee highs to be more dressed up!)

Christopher and I walked Ashlyn to her bus stop, then we drove to school, meeting Daddy to take Ashlyn into her classroom.
I'm so glad that there are so many other crazy moms and dads that were standing by the buses, cameras aimed at the door, for their kid to get off the bus.
Ashlyn and her teacher, Mrs. Andrews.

Getting off of the bus at the end of the day. It was about 104, and the girl was dripping.
(Bus drivers and Kindergarten teachers need their biggest appreciation for this time of year.)

I thought I would be more upset about my baby growing up and starting school. Her excitement made it hard to be sad.

The picture of her getting off the bus to meet you at school made me cry. Like. A. Freakin. Baby. I can barely type. ...
I remember feeling her kicking your belly. When she was born. Learning how to crawl. Eating dog kongs. Now, she is growing up!! That is a good thing. Just makes me a little sad. But really it shouldn't. Growth is good. And she is growing to be a beautiful little lady. You should be proud, Ang. I love and miss you guys,
Jame

What a fabulous start. I love that you put her on the bus and then met the bus at her school. Great memory for both of you. She's such a cutie! Enjoy your time with Christopher!

Great post! I can't believe she is going to Kindergarten. I still can't believe that William will be in 2nd grade. I will always think of Ashlyn as that sweet little girl running in the square in Italy. She is so cute. What a great pic of Allen with the kids. So happy for you all. Love ya!

I cried too... our babies grow up too fast! Gracie will be thrilled to go to school too. I hope that when I face this moment I can be happy for her and not bawl like a big selfish baby.

Ashlyn I am so proud of your excitement about going to school! I am thinking as I write this that you will have fun at school, you will be a very good student, you have many friends and your teachers will love you and praise you every day! Go to school every day as excited as your first day of school. Your Mom and Dad, Grandma Vicki and I, and all your family loves you and will always be here for you. Love, Pawpaw

Super cute dress. 104 - WOW! It would seem weird to me to be in school when it's that hot! Growing up in the North East...Sometimes we didn't even start school until September!

I'm so happy to hear she loves school!

I'm guessing you made the dress? very cute! Elizabeth started kindergarten on Monday, and you are right, it is hard to be too sad when they are so excited. We have a kindergarten center here, and it was touching to see so many moms crying. I felt like I fit right in. Ashlyn is such a cute mixture of you and Allen. I can see both of you in her. I am wondering what we will do when we send them away for college. I don't really want to think about it. What time does she have to catch the bus? I've been getting my kids up at 6:30 to have them both to school by eight. That's a big change from our summer schedul for sure.

Her excitement on the day that I was there this week...was worth the trip! How I wish that kids could just keep that innocent excitement and joy that she was and is experiencing this year! I just love my family and all the little children!
