Sadness (despite pictures of smiling people)

If you can't read our shirts, they do say "Dear Santa, All I want for Christmas is my daddy/husband back from Iraq." If all goes as planned, Allen should be home around this time next month. We have so been looking forward to his return home, and, in my mind, he was half way home already.

Just as I have been counting on the end, there is a week like this past one. In addition to family medical issues, Allen lost two soldiers in his company this week, SGT Kraig Foyteck and SPC James Bridges. I am sure that their families were counting down the days until they were together again, just as we have been doing. For me, these two deaths reminded me that Allen isn't safe yet. Every day in Iraq has been just as dangerous as the first. There is no rule that just because you made it through 15 months that you will make it through the last few days. I am so saddened by these losses, as well as the 105 US deaths in Iraq for October, with 13 already for November. That brings the total deaths in Iraq to 2,831. 2,831 members of our military who will never see their families again.

Those are the 2 bravest smiles I have ever seen. One can see that you are working hard through your sadness and anxiety to keep those smiles on! Thank you for that picture and thank you for your messages to Santa to help get Allen home safely! Love, B/D/P

Love the shirts!

I keep all our soldiers and their families in my prayers and will continue to do so tomorrow while at the voting booth...

Angie...I know it must just be agonizing--for all of you. Like everyone, I cannot wait for all the troops to get to COME HOME. And my heart just breaks for those who have given their lives. It is so sad.

That's so sad! I feel bad for hose families and for Allen having to have to see that and deal with their deaths. If there is ever anything you need just let know.
